Why a World Birdfairs Council?

OUR MISSION

The mission of the WBC is to support sustainable development across the world by enhancing the promotion of birding tourism through birding events, contributing to conservation and increasing public awareness of nature.

Who are we?

The Council was founded by the organisers of the main birding and nature events in Asia, the Americas, Africa and Europe. The Council has an Executive Committee which represents the body in its dialogue with governments and international organisations.

The WBC Executive Committee

The Executive Committee is responsible for guiding the work of the Council to achieve it mission and its members represent different regions of the world.

Membership

There are three membership categories:

General Members

A bird fair or similar event, with a designated person who will act as its representative on the Council.

General members can vote and form part of the Executive Committee.

Honorary Associate Members

By invitation from the Executive Committee.

The Council can nominate persons who are not representatives of specific birding events but who can offer advice on tourism, birding, conservation and other areas of interest. The Executive Committee will invite such persons to become Honorary Associate Members and can also withdraw such membership if required. Honorary Associate Members do not have the right to vote.

Corporate Associate Members

Accepted by the Executive Committee.

Corporate Associate Members do not have the right to vote.
